TL;DR — Slayer is the only combat training that pays you while you level. Early on it roughly breaks even; from the 70s the alchables and ensouled heads add up; and from 85+ (Abyssal demons) and 87/91/93+ (Kraken, Cerberus, Hydra) your tasks become boss tasks that print 1–3M+/hr. Every big PvM unlock in the game — whips, occults, primordials, trident — comes from Slayer. Train it with intent and the gp follows automatically.
The core idea
Get a task from a Slayer master, kill the task, repeat. Two things stack in your favour: task-only monsters drop the best items (whips, trident, occult), and the slayer helm gives +16.67% damage on task — you kill faster than anyone camping the same monster off-task. Money is a side effect of doing the skill right.
Which master?
| Master | When | Why |
| Turael (Burthorpe) | Early / task-skipping | Easy tasks; also the "Turael-skip" reset trick later |
| Vannaka / Chaeldar | Mid combat | Steady variety while your stats grow |
| Konar (75+ cb) | The money pick | Location-locked tasks but drops Brimstone keys — a free loot stream on top of every task |
| Nieve/Steve & Duradel (85+/100+ cb) | Late game | Best task lists, most boss tasks, most points |
The money curve
Levels 1–70 · break-even phase
Loot everything alchable, bury nothing, bank ensouled heads (Prayer XP later or straight gp). Expect to roughly cover your supplies. The real payment here is
unlocks.
Levels 70–85 · profit begins
Gargoyles (75) are a literal alch fountain (~400–600K/hr). Kurasks, dust devils and nechryael all pay. Konar's brimstone keys sweeten every task.
Levels 85+ · the printer turns on
Abyssal demons (85) — whip at 1/512.
Kraken (87) — trident + tentacle, chill 1M+/hr on task.
Cerberus (91) — primordial/pegasian/eternal crystals.
Alchemical Hydra (95) — 2.5–3.5M/hr and the claw/leather. This is endgame money that also happens to be your task.
Slayer points — spend them right
- First: "Bigger and Badder" (superiors) — superior monsters give huge XP and drop the imbued heart & eternal gem. Non-negotiable unlock.
- Block/skip smart: block the long garbage tasks (you know the ones), skip cheaply, keep the tasks that pay.
- Slayer helm asap (400 points + Malevolent Masquerade): the on-task damage boost is your whole edge.
- Do task streaks at Konar+ — every 10th/50th task pays bonus points.
What Slayer unlocks (the real payday)
| Level | Monster | Chase drop |
| 75 | Gargoyles | Granite maul + alch city |
| 85 | Abyssal demons | Abyssal whip (1/512) |
| 87 | Kraken | Trident of the seas, tentacle |
| 91 | Cerberus | Primordial/Pegasian/Eternal crystals |
| 93 | Smoke devils | Occult necklace |
| 95 | Alchemical Hydra | Hydra claw → Dragon hunter lance (hi Huey & Vorkath) |
Everything loops back: the lance from Hydra powers Vorkath and Huey; the trident from Kraken powers
Muspah and Barrows; the crystals from Cerberus finish your max-melee boots. Slayer isn't a money method — it's the
tech tree for every money method. Check any drop's live price on the

Quick tips
- Always be on a task. Off-task combat XP is XP without a paycheck.
- Carry alch runes on every task from level 1 — alchables are 30%+ of slayer income.
- Cannon + burst tasks (dust devils, nechs in Catacombs) trade a little gp for massive XP — pick per your goal on the Skill Calculator (XP-vs-GP column was built for exactly this).
- First whip drop goes in Discord. House rules. 🐔
