TL;DR — Huey is a members group boss in The Darkfrost (Varlamore). Melee it with a dragonbane crush weapon (Dragon hunter lance is the sweet spot), pray correctly against the pillars for a +30% team damage buff, break the tail with a multi-hit weapon, and cash in on the Dragon hunter wand, Hueycoatl hide and Tome of earth. Great mid-to-high level money and very newbie-friendly on a mass world.

Requirements
- Members world, and the Children of the Sun quest completed (then speak to Taala at the Darkfrost base camp).
- Recommended: 85+ combat, 43+ Prayer for protection prayers. Realistic minimums to contribute: 60 Att/Str/Def, 70 Hitpoints.
- Private instance costs 50,000 gp (25,000 with hard Combat Achievements). For your first kills, just join a mass world — it's free and safe.
Why it's a great CluckSquad boss
Huey doesn't scale its HP with team size — on a busy mass world you tag a few segments, stay alive, and still roll for the unique table based on your damage. That makes it one of the most beginner-friendly "big money" bosses in the game. Bring a friend from the clan, hop on a mass, and you'll have kills within minutes.
Recommended setup (melee)
Melee is the main style. The boss is weak to crush and takes bonus damage from dragonbane gear, so a Dragon hunter lance is ideal. No lance? Any strong crush weapon works — the fight is forgiving.
| Slot | Best | Budget / alt |
| Weapon | Dragon hunter lance / Scythe of Vitur | Glacial temotli, Zamorakian hasta, any crush weapon |
| Tail phase | Dual Macuahuitl (+ Blood Moon) or Ursine chainmace spec | Any fast multi-hit weapon |
| Head/Body/Legs | Inquisitor's set | Torva / Bandos / best Strength gear you own |
| Neck | Amulet of rancour / torture | Amulet of fury |
| Cape / Hands / Boots / Ring | Infernal cape, Ferocious gloves, Primordials, Ultor ring | Fire cape, barrows gloves, Dragon boots, any combat ring |
Inventory
- Divine super combat (or super combat) potion
- Prayer potions / restores (+ Holy wrench if you have it)
- Food: sharks or anglerfish
- Spec weapon for the tail (Ursine chainmace / claws), and a multi-hit weapon
- Optional: thrall runes + Book of the Dead for extra free damage
The fight, phase by phase
Phase 1 · Body segments
Five exposed body segments (250 HP each) at the base of the mountain. They don't attack — just DPS them down. Watch your feet for glowing symbols and pray against projectiles.
Phase 2 · Head + pillars (the important bit)
The head (2,500 HP) is now attackable. A seer charges
three pillars, each tied to a protection prayer:
- Blue = Protect from Magic Red = Protect from Melee Green = Protect from Missiles
Keep all three pillars lit and the team earns a
+30% damage buff for the whole fight. In a trio, each player holds one prayer.
Solo or duo? You can't fill all pillars — ignore them and just prayer-flick the "Rain Fire" projectiles by colour to cut the hit from ~14 down to 0–2.
Phase 3 · Tail
At the halfway point the boss shields and drops its
tail (break the 300 HP shield first). Damage on the tail is
capped at 4 — unless crush is your highest attack bonus, which raises the cap to 9. This is why crush weapons and multi-hit weapons (Dual Macuahuitl, Ursine chainmace) shine here. Dodge the shockwave that pulses roughly every 20 seconds.
Phase 4 · Finish
Head is vulnerable again, attack speed ramps up, and shockwaves come every ~15s. Keep HP above 40, keep dodging, and burn it down. Two safespots sit on the farthest front tiles if your timing isn't confident yet.
Huey is immune to poison, venom, cannons and freezes, but thralls still work — pop them in phase 2 for free extra damage.
Drops & money
Each kill rolls a 1/18 chance at the unique table, scaled by your share of the damage. On the table:
| Unique | Rate (on table) | Rough value |
| Dragon hunter wand | 1/105 | ~13.1M |
| Hueycoatl hide (×3) | 11/315 | ~1.4M |
| Tome of earth (empty) | 1/90 | ~665K |
Plus stackable earth runes, Huasca seeds and other supply drops. Solo is roughly 2.16M/hr; a geared trio clears kills in ~5 minutes. Prices move — check the live numbers on our Flip Finder and see how many kills a goal takes on Boss Profit.
Quick tips
- Crush weapon on the tail = damage cap 9 instead of 4. Huge.
- Keep the pillar buff up in teams — it's a flat +30% to everyone.
- On a mass, you don't need BiS. Show up, tag damage, roll the table.
- Bring a clanmate — splitting a wand feels bad, but learning together is faster and safer. Post your first wand in Discord! 🐔
