CluckSquad Combat Guide

PK & anti-PK basics

How the Wilderness actually works — stop donating your gear, start fighting back.

TL;DR — Most "I got PKed" stories are avoidable: know the level-range rule, carry the right risk, keep Protect Item + a real escape plan, and pkers stop being scary. Want to fight back? Learn the holy trinity of every fight: protection-prayer switching, food/brew timing, and the spec-weapon moment. This guide covers surviving first, fighting second.

Wilderness rules in 60 seconds

  • Attack range = your combat level ± the wilderness level you're standing in. Deep wildy (level 30+) means a much wider net of people who can hit you.
  • Die and you drop everything except your 3 most valuable items (4 with Protect Item; 0 if you're skulled without it).
  • You get a skull by attacking someone first — skulled = risk everything. Don't touch that white-dot player "just to see".
  • Teleports fail above level 20 (standard) / 30 (glory) wilderness. Your escape plan must match your depth.

Anti-PK: the survival kit

Risk rule
Carry only what the trip needs. The math is simple: if the pker's kill nets less than their supplies cost, you're not a target. "+1 risk" trips (three protected items + junk) make you nearly unkillable-for-profit.
Escape plan
Below 20 wildy: keep a one-click teleport (royal seed pod is elite). Above 20: know your route to a level-20 line or lever. Log out timers: you can't log out in combat — tab-out dreams get you killed.
The moment you're attacked
1) Protect Item + the protection prayer matching their weapon. 2) Eat up to full while moving. 3) Run perpendicular toward your escape line — not in a straight predictable line. 4) If they freeze you: pray Magic, eat, wait out the freeze timer, move the tick it ends.
They attack withYou prayTell
Ice Barrage / burstProtect from MagicRobes, ancient staff — expect a freeze first
Ballista / MSB / knivesProtect from MissilesThey keep distance, big spike hits
AGS / dragon claws rushProtect from MeleeThey run under you after a freeze
Never fight back skull-less against a skulled pker "for fun" with your slayer gear on. That's exactly the trade they want. Fight back when YOU chose the risk, not when they did.

Learning to PK (the fun part)

  • Start at LMS (Last Man Standing) — free deaths, real PvP mechanics, actual rewards. Every good pker drilled prayer-switching here.
  • The three switches to drill until boring: prayer switch on their weapon swap, gear switch with your attack style, eat + attack on the same tick window (don't skip attacks to eat).
  • Classic starter build: mid-level "zerker" or hybrid msb/mage. Cheap kit: mystic + d'hide + rune, ancient magicks (Desert Treasure), one spec weapon.
  • The kill pattern 90% of fights follow: freeze → chip damage → force food → spec stack when they're low. Defend in reverse: don't get chipped below 60% with a spec weapon on screen.

Wildy content worth the risk

The wilderness bosses (Vet'ion/Calvarion, Venenatis/Spindel, Callisto/Artio) drop rings worth millions and expect you to get attacked — bring +1 risk setups and treat pkers as a mechanic, not a surprise. Same for wildy slayer (Krystilia) and the revenant caves: massive gp because of the danger. Price your risk vs reward honestly with the calculators and check what your drops are worth on the Flip Finder.

Quick tips

  • Protect Item is always on in the wildy. Always. It's a free +1.
  • Spade check: NPCs can't skull you — only players. That white dot sprinting at you has already decided; be moving before they arrive.
  • Clan wildy trips = pkers avoid you. Mass up in Discord for boss trips — numbers are the best anti-PK there is.
  • Lost a fight? Post the clip anyway. We learn together (and laugh together). 🐔
